Marijuana or Cannabis Tea

 Marijuana or Cannabis Tea

When we talk about Cannabis aka Marijuana, it is often looked down upon as a harmful ingredient that only has side effects. But that’s not the truth! Cannabis is now a legal herb in many countries and has many medicinal values. It is rich in various minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants and when served as tea, it works magically in treating many health ailments, thus medical marijuana is gaining popularity as a complementary medicine to help with many symptoms associated with chronic illnesses.

While many people are curious about how marijuana (or cannabis) may help improve their symptoms, they are also reluctant to smoke the substance. However, there are ways that medical marijuana can be administered, including in tea form.

Cannabis tea is a cannabis-infused drink prepared by steeping various parts of the cannabis plant in hot or cold water.

Here are five ways that cannabis tea can help relieve some of the symptoms people with chronic diseases live with.

  1. Relieves pain

Marijuana has been associated with pain relief for centuries. Researchers have found the cannabinoids in marijuana dampen pain signals by binding to the pain receptors in the central nervous system (CNS).

  1. Reduces inflammation

Medical marijuana has been found to reduce inflammation associated with many autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis, inflammatory bowel disease, and lupus. It also helps to temper the body’s immune system making it less likely to attack itself.

  1. Protects the brain

Studies of cannabis’s effect on the brain have found that the drug has a neuroprotective effect and appears to slow down or even block the beta-amyloid protein build-ups associated with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

  1. Promotes digestive health

Many chronic illnesses present symptoms which affect the gastrointestinal system. Cannabis has been found to improve digestion and relieve symptoms such as cramping, stomach pain, diarrhea, nausea, constipation, and acid reflux.

  1. Mood enhancer

While smoking cannabis may produce mind-altering effects that most people are wary of, drinking cannabis tea can help with stabilizing mood and helping to relieve emotional symptoms associated with chronic illnesses such as depression and anxiety.

How to make Cannabis Tea at home

To make this tea, boil 2 cups of water, add 1 gm of cannabis, and let it simmer for about 15 minutes. Strain and serve hot with a teaspoon of creamer. As per experts, you can store this tea for up to 5 days in the refrigerator and reheat it and enjoy. Also, you may add honey or sugar to enhance the taste.

Nutrishilp does not support the consumption of marijuana as an addictive substance. This blog is to highlight the property of medical marijuana and that it should be consumed (even in tea form)after consultation with one’s nutritionist, doctor, or health expert.
