DIET & NUTRITION IN WEDDING SEASON

Weddings are filled with fun, glitters, laughter, and also a “lot of food”!

The wedding season is coming up and we have to keep fitting ourselves into that designer choli or sherwani, time and again. Apart from having fun and spending time with your family and friends, weddings are an occasion where you binge on sweets and other unhealthy food.

We all wish to eat in moderation and be conscious of what we eat during such occasions, but do you think it is possible with that never-ending buffet spread?

Oh Yes!!

Here are some practical and do-able tips which would keep your diet on track without missing all the fun:

  1. Avoid Skipping Meals

Trying to save calories during the day for the night would undoubtedly be a foolish decision.

Indulging in a good high-fiber meal with veggies during the day will keep you away from overdoing it in the evening.

  1. Beware of The Buffet

The unlimited buffet can take a huge toll on your diet if you don’t have a plan. The buffet is filled with a variety of sumptuous food and that is where your choices come into the picture.

You can avoid fried food and opt for dishes that are either baked or grilled. If it’s tempting, at least limit the intake of all those high-sugar desserts. Go for some healthy or less sugary options that would keep your taste buds and you happy.

  1. Ditch the Alcohol

With all kinds of drinks available around you, try to choose the ones with lesser calories. Alcohol is loaded with calories and therefore it is important to avoid alcoholic beverages or have them in moderation.

You can opt for plain water instead as it will also help in keeping you hydrated and in boosting digestion.

  1. Stay Active

Yes, you read that right! Doing some physical activity in the morning for about 45 to 60 minutes would help you get rid of that bloat and also keep you energetic all day long.

If it’s a destination wedding, then going for a swim or cycling around can be a few fun options for you.

  1. Plan Ahead

The constant ‘Save the date’ and wedding invites are not going to let you forget about the wedding lineups. Planning is the best you can do.

Restrict yourself from the treats and eat small, frequent but healthy meals. Make sure to include antioxidants, fiber, and protein in your diet ahead of the event.

It helps nourish your body and improves your overall health and immunity. This would prevent your skin/hair or body from acting up last minute.

  1. Portion Control

Look at the buffet in a healthy way by filling your plate with a balance of all nutrients. Take a bowl of pulao along with curd raita, a cup of stir-fried veggies, or clear soup.

Try the dishes you like but make sure to have them in controlled portions. Sharing could be a good idea when it comes to desserts as we know how hard it is to resist.

Also, let the starters not end your diet plans, that is one course filled with refined carbs and oil. Try to limit them to one or two pieces and not go beyond that.

Let this wedding season be a ‘hit’ for the diet and not a ‘miss’. Choose your options wisely and keep portion control in mind. Let the big fat Indian wedding not lead to a big fat belly.

Quick Tips –

Hydration is the key to healthy digestion,

” After all, and before everything good health is not a seasonal requirement, the best practice is to be careful about your diet around the year.

Anyways, if you have not been in good shape, these health tips would be of great help but don’t let the flame to burn out and you would be alluring in the next wedding season, could eat with gratitude, not guilt, and count your blessings, not calories. ”
